6 Months already! Time flies. Life in Singapore is great. It took me some time to get used to the heat and mostly to the level of humidity (80%+) but I think I survived. In those 6 months, I traveled throughout the entire Asia-Pacific Regions.
10 Countries in 6 months, not too bad hu?
The contrast between Singapore and the surrounding countries is startling. Even though the entire region is under a constant development (infrastructures, mentality, etc.) there is still a big gap between the Switzerland of SEA – in my Opinion, Switzerland is rather the Singapore of the West than the other way around. The level of efficiency in this country is simply remarkable. I am very proud of my country but I think we are now running behind – and the surrounding countries. But I really like these contrasts. You can get on a bus/ferry, travel for 1h and land in a totally different set-up. Somehow disorienting but enjoyable when you are tired of the big city life, the skyscrapers and the big shopping malls.
Being a city-state, Singapore doesn’t boast wilderness and greenfield. Something that we, Swiss, are not used to. I think that part of me miss the access to the nature even if I really like the big city life. But that’s all right. You can jump on a plane on a Friday afternoon and spend the week-end on the Mekong Delta or on a beautiful beach in Thailand, which enrich the whole experience.
But let’s not get carried away. I managed to sort and edit my pictures. So here’s the first batch for you to get a glimpse of Thailand, i.e. Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai.
Hope you’ll like it.
Cheers and stay tuned for the next leg.

As a Singaporean, I can say that Switzerland has served as a splendid model over the years our country was trying to make something of itself.
That said, I hear you on the lack of wilderness, which is why I now live in France. Bureaucracy is appalling and service standards nothing to write home about, but oh glorious nature that’s easily accessible, even for a city dweller!
Thx for your comment @therfpscribe, appreciate it!
The current events #big50 are a good occasion to take a step back and appreciate all the progress Singapore has made over the last 50 years. I was watching a retrospective and the evolution is phenomenal.
But I guess you cannot have your own cake and it eat right?
Glad you’re enjoying yourself in France, a stunning country as well. CCulture and tradition are also a big part of the experience right? And I’m sure you have plenty there.
